Ross Johnston Pastor of Generational Ministries

I had the privilege of joining the Cedar Grove staff in May 2010. I have two major roles. First, I oversee what we call Generational Ministries at Cedar Grove – ministry to adults in the second half of life, aged 50 and up. This encompasses a variety of programs and care to address the needs of baby boomers (Encore), seniors (PrimeTime) and older adults (Legacy). Check out the website’s GenMin link for further details on these ministries and programs. Second, I oversee ministries involved with “connecting” people to Cedar Grove: First Contact, Connect@theGrove (membership), Dare-to-Care and will be re-developing the adult Christian education program.

I have served in church and para-church ministry since 1978 – primarily as a senior pastor but also in associate pastor and other church leadership roles. My wife Beverley, a teacher on call at Regent Christian Academy who teaches elementary and high school, and I were married in 1971. We have three adult children, Heidi (Ryan), Kent and Michelle and two delightful young granddaughters, Lexi & Kaylin. They all live in BC. In addition to my earlier Th.B. (’74), M.Div. (‘77) and M.R.E. (’78) degrees, in 2010 I completed a Doctor of Ministry degree in church growth and leadership. My colleagues have fun referring to me as the “Doc” on staff! My hobby-type interests include camping, reading, flying, missions, computing and travel. I had an early call to full-time ministry at age twelve. My life since then has been engaged in ministering to people from all walks of life – whoever God brings across my path, from both inside and outside the church. I would love to meet you and help you to get “connected” at the Grove!
