Cedar Grove Child Development Centre is a government approved, licensed childcare facility and also a ministry of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. We exist to provide quality childcare to our community. We strive to model positive traits that will help children develop into caring responsible people. We teach the children to respect and value themselves, others and the environment around them. We provide a safe and secure environment that allows for fun and creativity. We endeavor to challenge each child to enhance their personal uniqueness. We teach children that God loves them and desires a personal relationship with them.  We regularly evaluate our routines and schedules to best meet the child’s needs throughout the day, and we work in close communication with each family, recognizing they are the primary caregivers of their children. We are a Christian Centre and our philosophy is based on the Bible.

I have lived all my life in the Lower Mainland, and moved to Surrey shortly after my husband Steve and I were married in 1986. We started attending Cedar Grove at that time as well.

Having ECE background, I joined the CDC committee in 1992 while I was a full time mom to our two girls, Kellie and Stefanie. Shortly after that, our son Bryan was born. Two of our children attended preschool at Cedar Grove. I came on staff in 2002 working part time in the preschool, and really enjoyed my time there being with the children and getting to know the families.

In 2006 I transitioned into the role of director of the Child Development Centre here at Cedar Grove. It is a privilege to work here at this centre that has been providing quality preschool education for over 40 years and top notch childcare for almost 30 years! It is also a privilege to work with great staff who genuinely love and care for every child and family they interact with. I generally work three days a week, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.  I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you, please stop in and say ‘Hi’ and check us out.

heatherandersonOriginally from Kamloops, BC, my family moved to Surrey in 1987. We began attending Cedar Grove that summer and it has remained my home church. After attending Bible College for a few years, I was called to Cedar Grove Child Development Centre to join the ministry of caring for and loving the families that God has brought here.

For the past 10 years I worked as Cedar Grove’s School Age Care supervisor and loved every minute of it. My husband Earl and I were married here at Cedar Grove in the year 2000. We welcomed our first daughter, Sophia, in to our family in 2005 and while on maternity leave God called me back to serve at the Child Development Centre in the role of assistant director. One year later we were pleasantly surprised with the birth of our second daughter, Chloe, in 2008.

I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the children and families in our communityforward to new relationships and new discoveries in this ministry through our child care centre and look . I hope you come check us out!

Born in Victoria but raised in two BC forestry towns Mackenzie and Boston Bar.  My husband James, daughters Amy and April and I live in the Birdland neighbourhood of Surrey and have been attending Cedar Grove Baptist Church since January 2009.  I have nineteen years of experience in the accounting field (mostly in manufacturing environments), and just started with the CDC in June 2012.  I’m very excited to have the privilege to work with the wonderful staff and families of the CDC!

Our family was introduced to the Cedar Grove Child Development Centre in 2005 when we were looking for child care for our youngest and then infant daughter April.  April first attended CDC in the Infant Care department, where she spent her days with Shelly, Sue, Mary and Diane, who seven years later still talk about April’s time there.

April went on to the CDC Preschool in 2007 and spent many happily engaged classes and field trips with Susan, Annemarie and Andrea.

Our time with the CDC was an awesome, life changing experience for our whole family and we are so glad we came!
