The Taylor family are serving in Canada with the Wellspring Foundation
We are blessed to have the Taylors as part of our Cedar Grove family. Both Richard and Ericka are involved in a variety of ministries at the church.
Prayer Requests:
· Pray that they will make lasting memories in their new house and that things would go smoothly with their tenant. Pray for God's protection over their home.
· Pray for God’s provision and guidance as they embark on the journey to adopt a girl from Rwanda.
· Pray for God to continue to open doors within the Ministry of Education for the Whole School Development Program to have a profound impact on the next generation of Rwandan leaders.
· Pray for God’s provision of funds to support the programs and opportunities that the Wellspring Foundation have developed. Also pray for the faith, discernment, and wisdom of the Wellspring Foundation and its board of directors as they expand the programs across Rwandan schools.
· Pray for the Wellspring Academy as it prepares for the start of Secondary School in January 2011.
June 2010 Update
The Taylors have moved into their new home.
The Ben Farrant Memorial Cyclathon is back on! The CSC has decided to permit Wellspring riders to raise funds without participating in the Pedal Power Program. Praise God that this wonderful event to remember the life of Ben Farrant and to raise funds for the Wellspring Foundation will continue again this year. Pray that God would pave the way for the logistical catch-up that will be required to coordinate this event.
The Wellspring Foundation has added two new staff members: Wellars Nkwaya & Janice Nikkel. Wellars Nkwaya will be active in the role of Parenting Trainer, while Janice Nikkel is a Development Officer focused on expanding the "Adopt a Trainer" program. Pray that God would use Wellars and Janice in powerful ways to impact the people of Rwanda for His glory! Pray for their strength and perseverence during the trials of their positions.
The Wellspring Foundation continues to expand its Whole School Development Program with the goal of impacting over 1000 teachers and 60,000 students in the Gasabo district of Rwanda. God has opened doors for the Wellspring Foundation for Education to come alongside entire school communities with its Christ centered approach to teaching training. The Whole School Development Program is improving school quality and teacher motivation through training in servant leadership, peace and reconciliation, quality education, worldview, parenting, and the integration of values into the curriculum.
The Wellspring Academy is presently offering a quality Christian education to 350 students in grade K through 6, including orphaned and impoverished children. The Wellspring Foundation for Education is committed to expanding the Academy to complete construction of its Secondary School and increase its capacity to 650 future leaders in K-12 by 2012.
The Wellspring Foundation for Education marquee fundraising event of the year is in jeopardy. The Ben Farrant Memorial Cyclathon is part of the annual Group Health Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic. Last year Team Wellspring entered 19 riders and raised over $43,000. Unfortunately, Richard has met resistance from event organizers in having the Wellspring Foundation using their event as a fundraiser opportunity, because they are a faith based organization. Please pray for God’s direction and timing with regards to this wonderful event that is so close to Richard’s heart and is such a tremendous way to remember the life and legacy of Ben Farrant, who was a founding board member of the Wellspring Foundation for Education and attended Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He was one of Richard’s closest friends and had a strong passion for the work God was and is doing in Rwanda by impacting the next generation of leaders.
The Taylor’s mission and ministry may be in Rwanda, but there home is here in Surrey/Langley. The Taylor’s are currently going through some transition as they are moving out of their townhouse and into a new home. They will still be in the Walnut Grove neighbourhood, but with any change comes anxiety, anticipation, stress, and loss. As much as they look forward to their new home, their old home has many wonderful memories that they will be leaving behind. Please be in prayer over theTaylor’s as they transition to their new home. They love being part of the Cedar Grove family through ministry in Missions, the Overseers board, and a small group for young marrieds.
The Taylor family is in the process of expanding as they have started their Home Study process for adoption of a girl from Rwanda. The process is a little intimidating as the evaluation of whether or not they will be suitable parents lies in the hands of an evaluator. Pray for peace, comfort, and God’s timing as they navigate through this emotional process.
March/ April 2010 Update
Praise God for a Great Trip to Rwanda and for Richard's Safe Return Home!
Thank you to those who were keeping the Taylor Family in prayer while Richard has been away in Rwanda and to those who cared for Ericka while she was on her own with two busy young boys! They appreciated your prayers and support! The trip was a very successful one. Be sure to check the Wellspring Foundation website above for updated information on the work in Rwanda!
Praise the Lord for financial support from a matching grant over the Christmas Season! The funds will go a long way towards their goals of completing construction of a library, science and computer building, outdoor auditorium, sanitation facilities, soccer field, and administrative and classroom block for the Wellspring Academy. In addition, the Whole School Development program is expected to grow to 18 Rwandan schools by mid 2010!
