The Alpha course is now underway for those who are seeking answers to lingering questions about what faith in the Lord Jesus Christ means. Take some time to pray this week for the leaders, facilitators and participants and all those involved in making this annual program a success. Pray that the great Teacher, the Holy Spirit Himself, will be free to minister God’s powerful truth to the hearts of all those who attend, convicting of sin, and removing the scales from people’s eyes so that they can see the blessed path of righteousness that Christ opens to all who believe in His name. Pray that the seed of God’s Word will fall on the good soil of spiritually hungry and receptive hearts, where it will be nourished and continue to grow to the Lord’s glory, even after the Alpha course is over.
“... the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
Matthew 13:23

The grade 12 Graduation will be June 15th, 2012 at Cedar Grove Church. Mark this date on your calendar! This year we are celebrating with Adam Lancaster, Alyssa Choroszewski, Angelique van derLinde, Ashleigh Ludik, Beth Klingenberg, Billy Hsueh, Hannah van Dijk, Kayla Henderson, Kayla Williamson, Levi Palfreyman, Moira Kostamo, Nathan Chan, Sally Maeng, and Simeon Stevens. Have we missed anyone? Please contact Angela at ext. 243 or Joan at ext. 246. Congrats to our grads!
Join us in the Gym once a month for a time to connect as a family. We will be using activities from the Focus on the Family resource “FaithLaunch.” Each of the Family Times will be about one hour – that’s one full hour of togetherness, not
tedium! We will also be looking to equip you to continue building your child’s faith at home, so we will do our best to bring you resources to use at home.
The goal of our Family Times is to prepare your child to begin or further develop their relationship with God. You’ll explore questions like:
Who is God, and how does He feel about me?
Who am I, and why am I here?
Why do we need forgiveness?
What’s the Bible for?
Who is Jesus, and what did He do for me?
How can I join God’s family?
What’s heaven like?
What does God want me to do now?
Family Times isn’t a class. It’s a series of Family Times – kind of a cross between game night, a devotional, and baking cookies together. No matter how wonderful this church may be, most spiritual formation happens at or near home. The good news is, you can do it! You do have what it takes, even if you are new to the faith yourself.
The activities are designed for two groups of children, those 4-8 years old, and those 8-12 years old. Older kids can join in as well. Depending on the number of older kids that come, we can have “minute-to-win-it” competitions related to the theme for the night.
Takes place on the last Wednesday of every month
Starts Wed. Feb 29th
Time & Place: 7-8 p.m. at The Grove
Looking forward to seeing you at Family Times!
Our vision for eNews is to produce “A newsletter filled with stories of Cedar Grove church programs and activities, by Cedar Grove members, for the Cedar Grove church community.” eNews is for you – your channel for connecting and communicating with the Cedar Grove community.
Here are some ways you can be involved:
Write for eNews and you don’t need to be a writing pro to do this! Do you have a story to share? Perhaps a testimony of how God has moved miraculously in your life? A poem? Maybe you’re part of a ministry and would like to write about events and programs to spotlight what God is doing at Cedar Grove. Or you’ve been meditating on God’s word and you’d like to write about what God has been speaking to your heart. As a first step, drop us an email with a brief description of what you’d like to write about. Submissions may be edited and not all content can be published so check with us first.
Send us your story or article ideas. We may use it in a future issue.
Announce your ministry event, program or service opportunity. Please e-mail your draft announcement to eNews by the Monday of the week in which you want it published.
